2008 dodge charger, 2.7 wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2008 Dodge Charger, V6, 2.7 at first delay starting to now not starting at all. However, a week ago, I went to make sure windows all closed because of predicted rain and the car started right up, I drove about a block and parked back in driveway and it would not start again. I hear a crank like its coming from the trunk and all lights and radio work. This time I tried for an hour before giving up. I notice the zig zag light stays on (the owners manual say that signal is the electric throttle). The very first time it happened and wouldn't start, I had it towed to dealer, cost me 879. to have a new key made because they said the computer chip and key miscommunicating. I am on fixed income and can't afford to keep putting money into this car. Down to my last 8 payments. The check engine light stays on most of the time. Had that checked by dealer, autozone, they all say no problem with engine. could it be an electrical shortage. Everything seems to go wrong on the passenger side, e.g., bulb replacements front and back always on right side. Once the window got stuck down on the passenger side and then after an hour, it just went back up. I have 86,000 miles

It seems really irresponsible for the dealer to charge you over $800- for a key- and not fix your problem- and then try to diagnose the check engine light and say nothing's wrong?! outrageous! I may not be understanding correctly, but from what I'm reading, this is a high level of incompetence, and disrespect for you- there is a very good chance that your car could be fixed for very little cost- go back to the dealership and ask to see the service manager, and explain the situation, that you have a very expensive key but your car still doesn't start- if they treat you with any kind of disrespect file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General of your state. To fix your car, meanwhile, search for a GOOD and HONEST independent garage near you- the people in the office should be nice, the mechanics should have the proper diagnostic equipment, and they should take the time to nicely explain to you the cost of any repairs, and any alternatives if the proposed repairs prove to be too costly for you- $879! That's a round trip ticket to Rome!! Volare
