Car overheating. Thermostat or something worse??

I have a 2008 Ford Focus that just started to
overheat while on the freeway. I managed to
make it home safely and check under the
hood. The coolant in the reservoir is good and
there is no milky coloring under the engine
cap. I did however see and hear a gurgling
sound followed with bubbling which I
recorded on video coming from the driver
side of the engine. Pic is of the area in which
it was located. My question is would it be a
thermostat or something worse? Thank you

Overheating can be caused by several issues. Low on coolant, leaks (internal or external), clogged radiator, bad thermostat, etc. If the coolant level is full, the thermostat would be the first thing to check. When was the coolant last flushed and replaced?
