spare tire.. Strong burning odor comes

If you know this is caused by the cat. then it needs to be replaced. They get plugged. You must not have good acceleration, engine holding back.

Story in our local news, woman and her young son had to be pulled from burning car due to a plugged catalytic converter. Yours sounds like it's about to go up in flames.
