Alternator replacement

1. Not sure of engine? The info is for 3.5L engine Disconnect battery ground cable. 2. Remove nuts securing v-bank cover. 3. Raise vehicle on suitable lift. 4. Remove righthand wheel nuts and wheel. 5. Remove bolts from righthand fender apron seal. 6. Remove retainers securing righthand wheel opening extension pad. 7. Remove retainers securing lefthand wheel opening extension pad. 8. Remove bolts securing righthand engine under cover. 9. Remove bolts securing lefthand engine under cover. 10. Drain coolant by opening radiator drain plug. Never drain coolant from a hot engine to avoid scalding of skin. Drain coolant into a clean suitable container. 11. Remove clips securing cool air intake duct seal. 12. Remove bolts and clamp air cleaner inlet assembly. 13. Remove air cleaner cap subassembly. 14. Remove bolts securing air cleaner case subassembly. 15. Remove front bumper assembly. 16. Cover bumper assembly to prevent scratching surfaces. 17. Rotate screws 90 degrees and remove pin hold down clips. 18. Disengage claws and remove front bumper assembly. 19. On models equipped with fog lamps, disconnect wiring connector from each fog lamp and remove bumper assembly. 20. On all models, remove front bumper energy absorber by releasing retainers. 21. Remove hose from coolant reservoir. Drain coolant into clean suitable container and plug end of hose. 22. Remove radiator inlet hose. 23. Remove radiator outlet hose. 24. Remove oil cooler inlet pipe hose. 25. Remove oil cooler outlet hose. 26. Remove radiator upper support. 27. Remove radiator assembly. 28. Remove cap from alternator B+ terminal. 29. Remove B+ terminal nut and disconnect wiring harness from B+ terminal. 30. Disconnect alternator connector from back of alternator. 31. Disconnect connector from A/C compressor magnetic clutch. 32. Rotate or lift belt tensioner arm counterclockwise using a suitable tool to relieve tension from drive belt. 33. Remove drive belt. 34. Remove wiring harness clamps. 35. Remove bolts from alternator. 36. Remove bolt securing wiring harness clamp to engine block. 37. Disconnect wiring harness clamp and remove alternator assembly. 38. Remove bolt and wiring harness clamp stay mount. 39. Remove bolt from bracket. 40. Remove alternator wiring harness clamp. 41. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: a. Torque lower alternator stay mount bolt to 15 ft. lbs. b. Torque wiring harness clamp bracket bolts to 74 in. lbs. c. Torque alternator bolts to 32 ft. lbs. d. Torque cylinder block nut to 15 ft. lbs. e. Torque alternator B+ terminal nut to 87 in. lbs. f. Torque wiring harness stay bolts to 74 in. lbs. g. Torque radiator bolts to 44 in. lbs. h. Torque v-bank engine cover nuts to 66 in. lbs. i. Torque righthand wheel nuts to 76 ft. lbs.
