Question type: General

Our daughter just bought an 08 Explorer with the key pad on the drivers door. The dealer did not know the correct combo. Is there some way we can reset the code to make it her own combo ?

no on reset, the code is in 1 of 2 places, open rear hatch, look for a small white sticker with black numbers, that is the code.other place ford put it is at brake peddle, pull down carpet, you will see a gray box,the sticker will be on that.

Thank you papa for getting back to our question, this will be a big help in our situation. We were told it could be found at a Ford dealer, but it would cost $.

See if you can do a search of Motor vehicle records in your state to determine the previous owner and contact them. I had the same problem with a person who locked themselves out of their vehicle and did not know the code. They only had the vehicle a couple of days. Of course I was in law enforcement and had a computer bolted to the dash. Took thirty seconds to locate the previous owner, and with the help of directory assistance got a phone number.

Another place to check on the 2008 Eddie Bauer Explorer is on the passenger side front; look up under the bottom of the dash for a white sticker stuck to the underside of the a/c vent pipe
