2008 Honda Pilot Issues

Asked by Jennie9481 Dec 16, 2022 at 08:55 AM about the 2008 Honda Pilot EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

280,000 miles. When starting the car it is kinda
sluggish. When it starts the lights flash on the
dashboard and the doors unlock (which has never
happened before). I have also smelled almost a
burning rubber smell that smells like it is coming from
under the hood and checked the belt and looks fine.
There is also a sound under the hood that sounds like
a ticking noise. Any help would be appreciated.

Funny things, or unfunny, can happen when a battery is going out. And that could be your problem. Or, more likely, you have a battery cable that's really loose and restricting the electricity from getting to the car. That gap could be sparking and that's the burning smell and ticking you detect under the hood.
