Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car was running fine. Went to start today and not turn
over no crank no nothing. Tried a jump and didn't do
anything as lights and things were still working. Not
sure what this could be and could really use some
advice.  I do have some knowledge but this is
stumping me currently

If the head lights are nice and bright without the jumper cables then it may be the starter , you can test for voltage at the solenoid wire when you hit the key once you get access to it , disconnect the batt terminals before removing the starter , you can take the batt. to get tested before buying a starter , if you get a multi meter you can do it yourself .

You can also try starting it with the transmission in neutral. If it starts, the neutral safety switch is bad. If not, try hitting the starter with a hammer a few times. If that gets you going it's definitely the starter. Hope that helps! Jim
