2008 Pontiac Grand prix power steering

Asked by Karen Jul 22, 2019 at 10:58 AM about the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My mechanic stated my power steering pump was going out and needed to be replaced.   6 miles after it was replaced it sounds worse than when it went in.   What else would sound like it?

I can't believe your mechanic couldn't track that down?? At least the mechanic could see your vehicle and drive it. The power steering pump is full? I'd probably use a mechanic stethoscope on the components under the hood to locate noise. What about power steering belt? If the steering is the issue, there is the rack/pinion assembly and pump hoses. I can't think of anything else at the moment?
