Replace one tire of 4 on AWD

Asked by hobbz Aug 24, 2010 at 05:05 PM about the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I blew one tire on my 08 FD Escape AWD Hybrid.  The tires have <12K (of 60K warranty) miles. The shop is saying that I have to replace all 4 due to driveline issues. Is this true?

Unless your Escape has a hyper-sensitve traction control system and ABS, the shop is full of sh!t. Hyper-sensitive along the lines of Mercedes, Lambo, Porsche etc. I seriously doubt your Escape would have it. Tell the shop you'll get the single replacement tire and you're fine with that.
