Question type: Maintenance & Repair

.....it was no longer prudent to keep my 2000 Cavalier. Now I notice little quirks that concern me. The first one is the computerized screen tells me my tire inflations and I noticed one really needed air. We put air in the tire indicated and the wrong tire was filling up and the other one was still low on air. I took it to my mechanic and he wasn't sure what to make of it. He said the 2008 LS is a good car and that he had gotten one for his mother. The other thing I notice is this one light keeps coming on and says it's dangerous to drive if that comes on but it tells me to try closing the gas cap tighter. This seems to happen almost every time I fill up. Are there any specific problems or recalls about this model I don't know about? I didn't have time to research the car. It just kind of got pushed onto me at the dealers by a liquidator. It still smells new and only had 24,000 miles on it. Anything I need to know about or worry about? I hope not. I love the car. I am an elderly lady and I feel safer in this car than I did in the Cavalier. It is more comfortable to drive. The seatbelt fits my large frame. It is an automatic which I have never owned but it is now uncomfortable to drive a manual. So overall, I am happy with the car. I just need to know of any pitfalls, recalls or maintenance issues. Thank you.

well for the tires on gm's very time there rotated they need to be traind so the sensor will then tell the computer where there at on the car and pressure (has to be done at gm dealer) as for the light its porbaly just the gas cap

check tire pressure when tire is cold, like in the morning, driveing it gets tires hot and build up pressure so if you gaudge a tire that has been driven on for several miles,it wont be right psi,for gas cap when it is removed and put back on turn it until you here it click at least 5 clicks, they say 3 clicks,5 or more is better.

okay just because the info center says check gas cap doesnt mean it he gas cap it could be the vent valve or purge valve take it to a shop to get tested and the tires senors can be set without dealer press info button till tire learn shows on dash with key on engine off and hold set reset button for about ten seconds the horn will sound twice and start at front left tire and increase and decrease tire pressure for ten seconds the horn will beep once go to front right and do same thing horn will beep once the back left and back right and upon completion the horn will beep twice shut off car and top off tires at 32 psi start car and scroll through info to get to tire pressures make sure all r read pressure check tires for pucture holes or rim leaks with soapy water solution
