Will headers and "catgut" removal help power and fuel mileage on 5.9 l in 2000 Dakota?
I have a 2000 Dakota with 360/5.9 l. I need to know if performance headers and cat
removal will help increase fuel mileage and horse power.
Yes it wil but if you're going through the effort to put headers on it remove the cats completely and put nice dual 3" pipes with flow masters on it.
I have noticed that a number of late model vehicles tend to get worse mileage when the catalyst's are messed with, headers are a good idea, leave the cats alone, but go with a good cat back system, then a full flow air filter system like a K&N or similar, then you could try a reprogram unit like a bulldog or similar. All of this is assuming that you engine and emission control systems are functioning normally.
Thank you gentlemen! Being on a fixed income makes me search for the best answer to my "problems" so this helps a lot. I can't afford to throw away money.
