Why do you hhave to buy the control arm for upper ball joints why cany you just the buy the ball joints

because they get serviced as an assembly. the ball joints are not removable off the OEM control arm. Aftermarket units from napa come as a two piece setup and offer better control over caster angle as well as allowing you to now service the ball joint separately from the control arm.
