4l60e tranny
I was driving down the freeway today and my rpms went to 4500 back down to normal and then back to 4500 and back down with in the matter of a few seconds. I went over to the shoulder, as when I hit the gas my truck would not go any faster. I tried to drive to go home but my truck would not move forward or in reverse, the rpms just moved.After getting it towed home we tried and I could drive forward and in reverse. I was wondering if anyone could help me as to what this could be. We checked the fluid and that's good. Thank you
Ok there is fuild. Need to check to see if it's flowing and if so actually maintaining line pressure to operate the transmission. Once that is confirmed we can move on. The proper way is to tie a gauge into the line pressure test port and observe the pressure in different gears under certian conditions. Most people don't have the gauge or hose required to do this. So lets just check the flow. Clean the fittings and tubing around the cooler lines. Disconnect the top line and slip a piece of small hose over the end and run it down to a small pail or container. Get someone to start the truck and watch the line, there should be fluid coming out. Shut it off after fluid comes out (it should be a steady stream). If no fluid comes out either the lines or cooler are plugged, the pump is not working or the suction filter has plugged or dislodged from the suction port. If fluid comes out the issue will be in the valve body and you will need to test the line pressure. Here is a pic of the line pressure test port.
