Why in the last year does the fan always run for a minute after I shut off the engine?

Asked by essential3 Aug 20, 2012 at 08:23 PM about the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For the first 5 years not matter how hot it was when I shut off the engine, the fan didn't run.  In the last
year, it has more and more often run for a minute after shutting off the engine.  Is this a sensor problem
or a fan problem?

I would say it sounds like a sensor problem
