about motor oil

Asked by REGMAR480 May 19, 2016 at 03:17 PM about the 2007 Ford Escape Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Ford Escape 2007 - 4 cilinders - automotic- indicates oil type 5-20.
Current odometer 15K miles. No abnormal oil consumption so far.
Can I switch to oil 5-30 with no problem?

In an emergency it will cause no problems. However, why not use the right oil? Is this the first oil change at 15K? I hope not. Best thing to do for your car is to change the oil and filter at every 3000-5000 miles and use the API service rating and grade of oil recommended by the manufacturer of the car.
