I am having trouble with brake lights. Is there a switch on the brake pedal, or is this what the 2 wires on the master cylinder are there for?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently the brake lights do not work.  Brakes work fine.  Have looked under the dash to see if there is a switch around the brake pedal, didn't see one.  There are 2 wires on the master cylinder.  Do these connect to the brake lights and contact when fluid is released?

I believe there will be a stop light switch mounted near where the brake pedal enters the firewall inside the vehicle. I could be wrong, but your wires to the master cylinder MAY be to a low fluid level indicator. Again, I could be wrong.
