cooling system

I have a 64 1/2 mustang D code engine with a generator, will my charging system produce enough Amps to handle a electric engine cooling fan or do I have to convert to an alternator first. The car runs hot in traffic and in hot weather. I've already gone to a three row radiator and a 3 1/2 shroud none of which made a difference.

Generators do not produce much if any power at idle. If your problems are in stop and go traffic you may want an alternator instead.
