Abs only sometimes work

Asked by Keary Jun 23, 2008 at 02:49 PM about the 1997 Acura Integra LS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If you are just starting the car after its rested for like 4hrs the abs system works fine, in addition the abs light won't be on.  However, if you shut the car off and the restart it within an hour or two the ABS light will be on, plus the system won't work. It does not matter if initially the cars been running for 6hrs or 2 minutes, after shutting off and restarting it the abs system will shut down.

That's a new one on me. Can you afford to take it to the dealer to get the ABS code read? Anyone familiar with Hondas who might know the problem here?

Sounds like a general fault with the ABS controller. Possibly related to a controller system failure, but it could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor, but again, really need to have the codes read.

that exact same thing happened to me last year when i replaced my clutch. it is either your exciter ring on one of ur front wheels or it is the sensor. i screwed my sensor and the ring up when i ripped out the cv's. word of advice, be gentle with the sensor.
