If your car sheds weight it can help make it quicker. Like removing the spare tire, carpeting and sound deading material from the trunk. The rear seats if not needed, maybe find a cheap set of lightweight wheels or trade you stock ones. Im sure you could purchase a used cold air intake that might help the car breath easier.

you will not gain any significant increase in power if your budget is $125. speed costs money.

For 125$ your not gonna get much that's like a cold air intake and spark plugs but if your going to have some more money eventually you could do cold air intake, spark plugs, performance tires, exhaust, headers, pulley, and maybe even a small turbo if your willing to go that far.
