good release is broke cannot open hood

I think that model has 2 hood releases. sometimes the cable between the two breaks and you have to access only one of them to pop the hood. if the cable broke before the drivers side release, then neither of them will work. if this is the case, you should be able to access the passenger side latch through the grille. use a metal coat hanger and bend a small hook into one end. you should be able to reach the release and pull on it, should release both latches. if not, I think you can reach the other latch the same way. good luck
