93 loyal 4wd xmission died but still drives in 2wd. Maby tranny, vacume, or electrical

The tranny quit in the snow at a light while in 4wd, i switched to 2wd and drove home, not driven it since. a friend had put the passenger side cv axle in for me and used the hammer a bit much. still drove for a few hundred miles after. Might it B vacuume or electrical problem?

it's possible that your center diff has gone out.
