loud growling noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Impreza Outback Sport with 233,000 miles on it.  When it goes down the road it has a loud growling noise, the faster the car goes the louder it gets and when you turn the wheel slightly to the right while driving down the road (like when there is a curve in the road) it goes away.  Everyone first thinks it is a bad wheel bearing but they have all been checked by multiple people and are fine.  Any ideas would be appreciated, I love my car.

alighment or maybe even an off ballence wheel I would also check your susspension to see if its moving freely

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? My 2006 Grand Prix is doing the same exact thing. When I turn the wheel to the right the growl goes away. Let me know. Thanks

Have you checked the inside and outside of your tires. Sometimes if tires are bad they will balloon out on the edges and cause noise or check the actual tread and see if you have a belt in the tire coming loose or something
