Blown tranny?

Asked by Orlandojag Oct 23, 2016 at 03:05 AM about the 2004 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey so I was in my car it's an awd jaguar. I was
doing donuts in it. I lost control and the car started
rolling backwards as i was still flooring it. All of a
sudden I hear loud grinding noise coming from
front end of car. Idk if it's the drive shaft or
transmission. I still had it in drive gave it gas and it
wouldn't move. I put it in nutruel and pushed it to a
park spot. There was fluid everywhere. Can
anybody help?

YOU NEED A NEW TRANNY, thats what you get for doing donuts and messing around, sucks to be you get ready to lay out a whole bunch of money for a new one..

Yep... the price of performance in the wrong hands. Fortunately for you, the car is 13 years old but probably worth fixing. Start checking west coast junk yards for your parts.

The X-Types are not well regarded and rebuilding the trans will cost you a bundle so you may want to decide if it is worth fixing. If you had fluid all over the place, you may have cracked the transmission case!
