2004 JAGUAR XJ8 GOING INTO LIMP MODE SPORADICALLY

MY 2004 JAG XJ8 KEEPS GOING INTO WHAT IS CALLED "LIMP MODE". IT DOES IT VERY SPORADICALLY, ESPECIALLY IF IT IS RAINY OUR MOIST OUTDOORS. IT SAYS "MAJOR SYSTEMS FAULT/PARKBRAKE FAULT/DBS UNAVAILABLE". THE CAR IN LIMP MODE GOES NO FASTER THAN 5 MPH. I HAVE TRIED CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, A TUNE UP, AND NOTHING SEEMS TO BE HELPING THIS ISSUE. ANY ADVISE OR ANY SOLUTION TO WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG??

I had the same exact problem and it came from the mass air flow sensor being bad! I replace it for 100 bucks and I also had an air induction cleaning done on it and the problem never showed up again

as many have said - many reasons for the issue, which includes... 1. bad battery 2. bad throttle body sensor 3. water in sensor area for throttle body 4. bad battery connections - corrosion around battery terminal 5. wire harness loose to throttle body or battery 6. dirty throttle body 7. water in sensor area to parking brake sensor in back spare tire area in trunk (for jags) 8. Mass Air Flow sensors dirty or bad

It's your tcm its located in a place that allows it to get wet take it out dry it out and either water proof it or locate it somewhere else.
Like Big Dave said, they are susceptible to moisture, even though they are supposed to be sealed with an epoxy or something, you can see it, it's poured into the body of the TCM and it hardens up, sealing the electronics from any moisture or humidity. But nothing lasts forever
