Difference between a 1994 6.5 turbo diesel 1500 and the 2500 of the same year?

Asked by gonzo1388 Jun 06, 2013 at 08:56 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Cheyenne Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 1994 2500 4x4 6.5 turbo diesel silverado and scrapped the engine, and found another 1994 6.5 but its a half ton z71.  Just want to know if there's a huge difference between the two so I could slap that one in.

Chances are that the engines are the same. Check parts places like Rockauto.com to see if the engine parts are the same. Wikipedia.org is another decent place to check.

the 2500 just has beefier suspension. The only difference would be 4x4 vs 2wd and all that is is the shape of the oil pan
