Chevy misfire

Asked by Guru11NYV Jan 12, 2020 at 02:33 AM about the 1998 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Silverado Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1998 Chevy Silverado has a vortec 5.7L
(350) and is misfiring in cylinders 5 and 7, no
codes are thrown on the dash but havnt got to
run a OBD 2 scan on it yet. At idle you can
hear the misfire but while going down the road
the truck starts to backfire randomly, it gets
worse when the engine gets under load (going
up a hill or starting in 2nd gear instead of 1st) I
have major lose of power now and struggle to
make it above 60 mph. Gas is also going
quicker then ever, use to be able to make 250
miles per tank now I can only make 120 miles
per tank. I have replaced all spark plugs,
spark plug wires, rotor and cap, and ignition
coil. The misfire  started happning randomly
one night while I was sitting at a stop light and
have run out of ideas and what els to check.
