you need to take the axles out take the cover off take the 4 botls out that hold it in. The spiders can come out without taking to chunk out. but its just found bolts and the chunk will come out.

there are some shims in front of the bearings back there and some c-clip retainers on the axles---don't lose them~

then while it is apart you can inspect the pinion gear to see if it is loose and/or still holding the axle lubricant alright~

when you put it back together use only RTV black ---make a steady bead on the cover...use a razor blade to remove any old sealant there~

"snap ring" what holds the axle to the moving part of your differential....the "spider" gears~

the pin should slide out one end, after whatever retainer holds the pin~ a snap ring or a bolt that holds the axle in place~ last one I worked on was a 1966 chevy...so it's been a while~
