What are signs/sounds of front wheel bearing trouble on 2001 Buick LeSabre

Asked by cheyenewolf20 Jul 29, 2018 at 11:06 AM about the 2001 Buick LeSabre Custom Sedan FWD

Question type: General

When up to speed and curving right, front end shimmies/shakes, when accelerating on straight away or curving left, it stops  Also, with going any speed, there is a loud metal to metal like grinding noise, like rotor and bad brakes, but ruled that out.

it could be a wheel bearing or the U joint(s) between the transmission and wheel. You can probably jack up one side at a time (car transmission in neutral) turn the wheel and determine if it is the right or left side. At the same time with a helper, you could get under the car and feel the drive shaft as the helper turns the wheel.
