Car won't start

Asked by Joseph Aug 15, 2017 at 08:55 AM about the 1999 Buick LeSabre Custom Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1999 Buick lesabre suddenly will stall after a
brief period of time or not start at all. When I turn
the key it will crank normally but engine will only
turn over every once in awhile but once it does it
dies after a short period of time. I hear the buzz
from the fuel pump, battery is good, I have spark ,
the alternator was replaced about a year ago. A few
months ago I had a similar problem but it was fixed
by replacing the ignition control module. Any help is
greatly appreciated I am stumped here

What you have to determine is if it's gas, electrical, we know it's not a timing issue. First thing is first. Go to engine compartment and start the car and see if fuel coming up to engine. Fuel may be coming up but not as strong as it's supposed to be (normally registered pressure guage). Then see if you have spark at the plugs? Then check if you have signal at the injectors (using a 12v light tester) one side of injector should be live and other wire should pulse when cranking). From there you will know where to go!
