Car Sometimes Won't Start

Asked by PATJO2222 Jan 11, 2017 at 12:40 PM about the 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our car is in great condition with a brand new battery.  Ever since we've
had this car it sometimes won't start.  We always thought it was a starter
problem.  Our mechanic ran a computer test and it didn't show anything
wrong with the starter. When this happens, you can sometimes turn the key
twice quickly and it will start. It makes kind of a clicking sound when you do
this. We never know when this will happen and sometimes it doesn't
happen for months. Any ideas?

There is a bad connection or a cable going bad possibly, may want to try a new starter relay, cheap try. The other thing this sounds like would be the ignition switch. May want to have these things checked out.

I changed the ignition switch on my 2003 Buick lesabre and it was cool for a day or two then started back with this problem , the battery icon appears but I don’t think it’s the battery , changed the starter and alternator already

No answer on how to fix the problem. Only to say my LeSabre does the same thing.

Having the same problem. It appears to be the ignition switch, because the dash lights go dim after 2 to 3 seconds then goes completely out. When I wiggle the key, the dash lights back up. Security light appears to be acting normal, not flashing erratically.

Buick Lesabre 2000 won’t start won’t crank , it started after using jusmper cables (didn’t see a spark though). This morning I went out to start my car and same thing happened , what else could be the issue? It has been pretty cold outside around 20-30 degrees
