Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1995 buick lesabre custom with 119,000. i just recently got the car
and dont know alot about it. My current problem is the heat does not get hot.
The c worked great this summer but no heat. Changed coolant and
thermostat with no prevail. Any idea what this could be or what my next step
should be?
Blower motor works. The different speed settings on fan work. All the vent
mix defrost options work. It is getting very cold where I am and would love
some heat!!

First, I did not say I know little about cars I said little about this particular car. I also never said I purchased the car as both are irrelevant. I also never said I wasnt willing to take the vehicle to a mechanic. I feel the rudeness of this response is in part due to the fact I am a female. (Rude people like the one who made this comment and terrible mechanics trying to get over on someone is why alot of females are skeptical of shops. Not my case.) However, for the sake of some useful information from somebody else on this site I'll elaborate further. The car was given to me with absolutely no brake lines and no fuel lines and hadnt been driven in quite a while but didnt have much info other than a stack of receipts following the maintenance. For the miles and great condition of the over car frame suspension engine/trans and so forth it was worth investing in. I replaced both brake and gas lines throughout. Myself. As well as complete flush of all fluids and an all around tune up. The car has been in perfect condition and drove magnificently for the last 7 month's or so. It was summer and had been warm and was using a/c when needed. Never really crossed my mind to check for heat in the middle of spring/summer. Now that that time has come I tried with no prevail. As well as a second coolant flush and thermostat. I also looked into the actuator and obviously checked for working fan and blower even after a/c use. When flushing the system both times it was also obviously purged and the coolant level accurate. Anybody with helpful information willing to chime in is greatly appreciated. I'm not unwilling to take it to a shop, however I live in Dayton, Ohio where the massive string of tornadoes hit on labor day and many of our shops are still very busy working on repairs far more important than no heat. So with my knowledge and a little advice figured I could get the job done myself. Thank you and have a blessed day.

dont know if anyone ever helped you and i dont know if you still need help but i will respond anyways with this issue based on what you have said there is no hot coolant making it through the heater core or there is air trapped inside it being a buick air in it can be a pain in the @!@#$ getting out try a few things first make sure its easy to pass fluid or air fluid would be better through the heater core with easy with a full flow coming out the other side if you can then yay its not clogged up if not keep trying both hoses till you get it going then flush water through the heater core as much as you can while trying to get as little air pushed through as possible as getting air out on these cars can be a pain maybe use a washing machine hose cut one end and clamp it to the heater core pipe or use a male to male connector to link the hoses with any luck from the car gods you will have heat if not then its time to take the dash apart hunting for the blend door and the heater core so you can find out what is wrong with one of them heater core being clogged somehow so not getting good flow of heat over the rads or blend door being broken inside the pipe
