Van has No lights no crank?

Asked by Guru9DVNCH Nov 01, 2020 at 08:11 PM about the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country Touring LWB FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2006 town and country was driving perfectly
fine. Parked the vehicle the next day car
would not start tried to jump it nothing. Next
went to the shop to get a multimeter tested
battery 12.58 volts, to alternator 9, to engine
block 12.58. No interior lights, no headlights,
no dashboard lights, no crank. Next day the
vehicle turned on no problem. Drove it for 35
miles over the next 2 days and parked it went
to start it then it went dead again. Tested
fuses they are all good. Only symptoms prior I
would always have to crank 2 times for the
vehicle to start and sometimes when I would
turn the key there would be a delayed start.

sounds like a bad ground to the engine that also, in turn, grounds the starter

Replaced the ground strap wire. Retest the electrical components they all have power going to them spark plug, alternator, ground wire, engine block, ECU. However there is still no power going to the interior lights, dashboard, headlights or horn.

Sounds like it’s your ignition switch to me. That would cause the lights not to come on as well as no communication via obd.

One of the wires in the door was the cause of the problem a break in the wire. Soldering was the simple fix. Now the problem has not returned.
