The red dot light is for the security system, check the owners manual for procedure to disarm, if this fails, then the only way to turn off the light is to go to the dealer and have them scan it to find out what the problem is, it could be anything from a bad key to a bad BCM or a sensor. The red/yellow check engine lamp is there to let you know that a system in your car is not operating correctly. The on board diagnostics can only be accessed with a scan tool. I have no idea why both places told you that they cannot find any codes. If there is a problem, it may cause damage later, so check by yourself by doing this: With the engine off, remove the positive terminal in the battery, wait about 10 minutes, this normally erase the codes in the computer's memory, replace the terminal, making sure it is tight. Turn the key to the on position and wait a few seconds, start the vehicle and wait to see if the check engine light appears again, this may take a few minutes to hours. If it appears again, I would take the vehicle to a reputable repair shop for proper scanning. Hope this helps.
