Asked by Yesenia Sep 26, 2020 at 09:26 PM about the 2007 MINI Cooper Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my Mini Cooper 2007 has the engine light
on but it only turns on when I start the car and
then turns off when the car has completely
started and I drive it. Should I get it checked
out ???

Sounds like the normal bulb check cycle. With the engine not running and the key in the run position the check engine light will remain on. It will also be on for a second or two when you start the engine to let you know the light is working. If it stays on or comes on while driving you need to have it looked at. Hope that helps! Jim

Well that is normal for every car including Mini, each time you start your car all the warning lights will do an annual check to see if it works or not, if they don't work, you'll have to get that checked out. But to answer your question no, it is not a concern.
