Top will not go up!

Took spyder out the first time this year and the battery was dead. I jumped it and it
started fine. It is a beautiful day so I took the top down. I ran the car for awhile to
charge up battery.  I shut the car off and had to jump it again. Went to get some gas
and the car would not start again. I was at Sam's so I had them pop in a battery. The
top was down. Now the top will not go up. What can I do. I read that you should not
unhook positive on battery with top down. I did and there is no Mitz. dealer here. What
is a girl to do?

This worked: turned ignition key to ON position (not all the way to start engine, just to where radio can be turned on). Turned back off. Ignition back to On. Raised the windows. Turned ignition back to off. Turned key all the way to ignition and started engine. Pushed the Close button and the top functioned as expected. Saved a trip to the shop.

5 yrs later on a my 2012 sypder it worked battery died on me with my top fully opened couldn't get it close... did the controller xyb trick and it worked. Thanks
