Why is my temperature gauge saying the car is hot but the engine is cold?

It could be the temperature sending unit does the car have enough power when you first start it?

Can be 1 of 2 things: 1) Your thermostat's burned out, and simply needs replacement. 2) you have an electrical wiring issue where the line's got a short. Likely, it's the first one. Get this fixed before the situation reverses itself!

We replaced the thermostat and the car is still saying that it is hot. When I read that it could be the wiring, I noticed that the light for my daytime running lights isn't showing up at all on my dash. My dad knows a lot about cars, could he fix the wiring by himself or do I need to take her to the garage?
