Can I use a 245/50R20 tire in an 8.5j width rim for
a 2007 Maxima.

The overall diameter of the new tire is going to be much larger than the OE tire. You may run into issues with hitting the fender liners on bumps and pot holes and your speedometer will give incorrect speed readings.
