My power steering pump 2008 Lucerne CXL 3.8 V 6 is on the passenger side of the engine back near the fire wall down low next to the block. Hard to see but with a flashlight you can see the lid.

If your GM has over 100k, the antifoaming agents in the power steering fluid are likely worn out. If you still have a whining noise from the steering after topping off the reservoir, use a suction gun to remove the fluid from the res, refill, start it and steer it back and forth till the fluid in the res is dirty again, repeatuntil noise abates. works nearly every time.

What if your 06 Buick has 54000 miles on it and it's doing this.
