Got back home, and tried to put in park,
and the shifter lever moves with no play
and doesn't shift the gears. Its stuck in 1.
Had to use the e-brake. Still starts but
stuck in 1. Automatic transmission.
Anyone know what the problem could be?
hmm... from what experience I have messing with the trans on my foresters, I removed one and it's connected via cable to the selector box. Yesterday I was searching for stuck gear and wasn't finding any "first gear" scenarios. I'm assuming it locks in park without the brake applied? So with the brake applied, it releases the shifter but it does not change any gears. Is that accurate? You might give a visual inspection to the cable connection or have someone change gears while looking at it. If it's still connected and moving the actuator then it might be a failure inside the trans of some sort. And that's where I'm not able to help. Get back to me and let me know what you find.
