Why is it Im losing so much oil on my Subaru Forester 2006?

Have to top up oil every three weeks. I'm using 5X40 synthetic oil as dealer's
spec yet it disappears quickly as normal. The thing is you cannot find any leak
around or under the engine. Some backyard mech of mine suspected my rings
may have been gone but others said no, because they checked my plugs and
seemed okay, besides the smoke coming out of my exhaust looked
normal...not black. Can anyone shed some lights with my prob? Had almost
five litres of oil already been used for topping within 2 and a half months. thnx.

I have a 2010 Honda Pilot that uses a qt of oil every 3000 miles. It did this ever since i purchased it new in 2010. I was told by Honda that it was normal.

Thanks Mark. But Honda cars here in Australia are well known oil misers. They're pretty economical in consuming oil unlike the Subarus. Iv I've just read threads after threads on this site and no longer wondering why I have such problem. Little did I know there's a lot of folks out there riding on the same boat as I do. 'Think have to get rid of this vehicle to avoid more headaches. Thanks to all and for this website. You're such a good conveyor of relief.

This is a simply a situation where the 5w synth is TOO skinny to stay above the rings. Switch to 10w40 dino and watch the consumption dive. Really.
