replaced MAF sensor and turned off engine light but still comes back on

Asked by May 17, 2017 at 10:23 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When my GXP is cold my turbo works but one it warms up the turbo quits.  I changed the MAF and turned the engine light off but it comes back on after about 10 miles and when it's checked, it says air fuel mixture and misfires on all 4 cylinders.  Someone told me my intercooler might be cracked.  At wits end.

That is the sensor telling you that there is a issue, does not mean its bad, but any possible causes for MAF code to set needs diagnosed and repaired.

The air filter may be very dirty causing the sensor to show low air flow voltage due to air flow restriction.

Inspect the electrical connector to the MAF to insure it is attached correctly. Disconnect it and then reinstall to insure fresh electrical connection to remove any corrosion on the contacts.

Thoroughly inspect for wiring being frayed, damaged, or broken on the connector. Repair or replace as necessary.

Check for vacuum leaks on the intake manifold hose and fittings. Make sure the exhaust is not clogged up. (cat).

Buy a repair manual and follow the test procedure for the wiring and sensor.

Is MAF the only code as its alot of times part or code sets or more than one code including it too?

Is there any symptoms you are having other than the check engine light on?
