Very carefully using a flat screwdriver start wherever you can get under the panel and find something to use to wedge in under every time you move to a new spot until you can get your hand in to open the door

The driver side front door on my 2008 Tahoe would not open from the inside or the outside. I tried to remove the inside door panel to repair the lock and could not get the panel off, so I had to punt and took him to the dealer... the dealer had a special tool to open the door because they could not get the panel off either. But it was kind of pricey $570.
