'07 F150 starter problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've had my '07 F150 towed 4x. All because it would
not start. Each time it was taken off the tow truck, it
started. The first shop said they tested the starter,
battery and alternator and it tested fine and they
couldn't get it NOT to start. The second shop said it
was the battery and replaced it. The last time, all
tested fine. This has all happened in a 6 week
period. The battery was replaced 2 weeks ago. Any
suggestions?

So what are the symptoms? No crank at all? Clicking? Try replacing the relay, or check for bad/intermittent grounds. Voltage drop tests to the starter and really look for weak/frayed wiring or weak terminals. May want to troubleshoot the ignition as well.

Engine does not crank. Or should say would not crank. Until it was towed to the shop, at which point it cranked. Tested the battery, alternator and starter. I got the new battery 2 weeks ago. Truck cranked normally for 2 weeks, 4-5x per day. Then, no crank. Take to shop-cranks-passed the volts test for starter, battery and alternator.

Intermittent problems like that tend to be electrical, I'd go through the wiring harness and battery cables. A bad ground can be a nightmare. If there was a heat shield on the starter make sure that is still in place.

Thank you. I'm going to check out the heat shield. Quite frustrating that the only intervening event 4X for my truck not starting to starting has been being loaded on a tow truck.

Check ur security system relay, it may be going bad. One way to findout is by checking for voltage at starter solenoid next time u have a no crank condition and trace back
