Where is the OEM located??

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe LS Sport Utility 4-Door 5.7L
350Cu. In. V8. Been having issues with the dash
(speedometer &rpm gauges) not working. As well as my
vehicle is not wanting to shift out of 2nd gear. I've had it
tooken to the for the shop to get fixed only for it to sit
untouched for the past 3 months. I am no mechanic but have
done the research and narrowed it down to the VSS. I I've
also read that there are multiple different kinds of speed
sensors. And in order to get the correct one you need to
make sure that the OEM matches the new VSS that I am
purchasing. Where do I find the OEM so that I know I am
purchasing the correct sensor?

In order to match OEM you have a few options... 1. Remove one installed and take with you to match. 2. Contact dealership and request info for OEM part. 3. Research and get OEM part number and search that number through various online or local parts retailers. If vehicle had been at a shop for 3 months UNtouched I'd be finding a different shop/ mechanic. If they're shooting the parts cannon at it repeatedly hoping something fixes it I'd be finding a different shop/mechanic. There is a well-known problem with GM dashes and instrument clusters having problems....
