2005 Town & Country liftgate won't stay open.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Town & Country's liftgate will open remotely, but then immediately beeps
and starts closing itself. Also, when opening manually, the liftgate won't stay up
if it's cold. I've already replaced the liftgate gear / arm assembly.

The vehicle has a module that controls the functions of the liftgate, it may need to be replaced.

It is called that, Liftgate Control Module. I do not have with me my Chrysler maintenance shop manual, but it should be located behind the cover panel on the right or left side of the body, between the liftgate and the last row of seats. When you find it, first spray the contacts in the module with electric contact cleaner and the movement with silicone spray; sometimes this helps to restore motion. Good luck!

Seems like the struts need to be replaced. The weight of the tailgate is causing it to collapse.
