2007 Chrysler pt cruiser non turbo. Turn key two or three times to start.

Asked by May 09, 2017 at 08:19 PM about the 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Edition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok. So I have had this car since the end of 2007.
Here over the last couple of months it seams that
when I go to start the engine I have to turn the key
2 sometimes 3 times in order to get the engine to
start. After it starts up it sounds like it might stall
but never does. I just had the timing belt replaced
about a week ago and its about time to change the
spark plugs again but the engine light wont go off
and I cant get the code to come up. Anyone got
any suggestions what might be going on or had
something similar to this happen

Is the engine light red or yellow, if it's red then you either have an oil pressure problem or a oil pressure sender whacked out, if it's a yellow light then it is an engine management system problem. As there are no codes and you have a problem starting it there could be a fault with the programming in the computer system itself. Has anyone done a live data check on the system, sometimes the problem can be located going that direction, but I suspect it is the main processor. Fuel system pressure If it is low can also cause a hard start especially cold, the pump just can't make enough pressure immediately to feed a cold engine.

Thanks. The light is yellow. Guess I should have mentioned that before. I may have to wait to try and get those things checked as I just go back to work from a layoff but now I got a place to start. Thanks again.

Good, I Hope I gave you some ideas. Great you got to go back to work. I got laid off and then the economy in my area went away, businesses closed, people had to move to find work. I don't know who they are trying to kid but things are still messed up out my way.
