stall, backfire, died no codes

2001 Yukon after leaving highway pulling to a residential street dropt to idle then when tried to speed up but it bogged down and would not climb above 500rpm. when  istepped on it would backfire eventualy died and wouldn't start. waited 10-15 min then got it to start still would not get above idle. limped it to friends house and let set for 2hrs drove home fine. never got a check engine light. not sure where to start.

If had time to cool and ran fine after,check fuel pump,may be going bad.

everybody that is anybody knows that a chevy will wait till your broke then kick you while you are down with a 400 dollar fuel pump.
