I have a problem with the boot when closed it still flashes on the dashboard, I am unable to securely lock the car, when you put the boot down half way it stops flashing on the dash, then if you move it down more it flashes again and will not stop

First off, does the boot completely lock when you put it all the way down? If so, and the light is flashing, you need to adjust the sensor that controls the warning light. If it does not lock, then you need to adjust the latch mechanism to where it does. S-Type was not one of Jags better built cars. Remember, Ford built it.

Just had a similar problem which got progressively worse. Found out there is a wiring bundle attached to the boot hinge and over time and constant flexing opening and closing the boot various wires in the bundle break and begin to short. An absolute idiotic idea to place the harness there.
