Asked by Jerry Jul 29, 2015 at 03:27 PM about the 2005 Jaguar S-TYPE 4.2L V8 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every few days the yellow light comes on warning deck and can't move out of Park.
Found a way...I turn engine off, remove key, exit car, close door and begin the drill
again...Able to drive....but can't live with this forever....any permanent solution short of a
huge dealer bill?

Whats your voltage??? You probably need a new battery or the terminals are loose or corroded but make sure the get the right battery not just any battery

When the PARK BRAKE FAULT light comes on the module has detected a problem and stores a trouble code. This code will need to be read with a Jag scan tool. Your problem may be due to low battery voltage, faulty park brake motor, module or possibly broken or binding parking brake cables. What you can do is reset the system. DIsconnect the negative battery cable for 10 minutes. Then reconnect it and start the engine. It will say "Apply park brake" on the message centre. Pump the brakes then while holding your foot on the brake pedal pull up on the park brake switch handle. This should reset the brake and may rectify the problem.
