Can i take a 2wd 97 tahoe transmission
and put it into my red 97 tahoe? If so what
needs to be done

You can only swap a 2wd trans into a 4x4 if your willing to part ways with having 4x4. You will need to loose the transfer case, and both your driveshafts. Use the 2wd driveshaft, and will have to use the 2wd crossmember and will probably have to drill new holes for it as it won't line up. Converting the 2wd trans to a 4x4 trans it's about the same labor as rebuilding it, so if that's an option just rebuild your 4x4 trans

Can I take a automatic transmission out of a 99 Chevrolet Tahoe and put it in a 97 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and it work
